Last weekend Launceston hosted the 2016 Body and Soul Festival at the Albert Hall.
Held over three days, the Body and Soul festival was packed with over 50 stalls which showcased holistic healing products and services from both international and local exhibitors.
Now in its fifth year, the three day festival promotes bringing Zen into your life, exploring holistic therapies and creating an overall sense of peace within yourself. The festival encourages visitors to explore the mind, body and soul. The beautiful colours and calming smell of incense most certainly created a Zen affect.
There were a myriad of things to try; complimentary group meditation classes, therapies and workshops in areas of spiritual development, life management, personal development and health. Guest speakers, musical acts and dancing were also on offer.
Wax art reading specialist, John Paul Sutton, said he originally began reading tarot cards over 30 years ago, before turning his hand to wax art. Wax Art involves melting coloured wax of your choice into a painting and Mr Sutton reading symbols that the melted wax creates.
“[I] then started wax art as an art form and [it] developed into readings for family and friends,” Mr Sutton said. He now performs readings around Australia and particularly enjoys visiting Tasmania. “[It has a] different atmosphere than the mainland… it is beautiful to come and visit,” Mr Sutton said.
One visitor, Ree, said the event was “very relaxing.” And she really enjoyed her meetings with the psychics and mediums on stage. Another festival goer said she “loved learning about all the different types of natural health care that is about and how having balance in life was so important”.
